In 1887, Adolf Mieetke and Johannes Gaedicke invented "Flashing Powder". It is an explosive mixture made of magnesium, potassium chlorate and antimony. Once ignited, its combustion provides a bright light, noise but also a lot of smoke. The first flash was born and made it possible to shorten exposure times.
