22 mm metal

My favourite, and by far the most requested one in silver.

It is 25 mm across overall, but only needs a 22 mm hole, in a panel up to 10 mm thick. Its wires clamp into a screw terminal.

28 mm arcade

The arcade cabinet button, in plastic, with that sharp click you recognise straight away. Wide, colourful, spotted from afar. This is the one to pick when several buttons have to be told apart at a glance, or when children will be using them.

It is 32 mm across overall, for a 28 mm hole, and it is the one that takes the thickest panel: up to 25 mm. Its wires push onto spade terminals.

60 mm arcade

The very large model, the one you hit flat with your hand. Impossible to miss, within reach of small hands and imprecise gestures alike. It has a hinged translucent cap: slide a printed insert inside and you have a labelled button, in your own colours, with no tools at all.

It really is 60 mm across, and yet it only needs a 24 mm hole. Panel up to 16 mm thick, and spade terminals for the wires.

Wiring

Your button arrives with its wires already fitted, ready to screw straight onto the terminal. You can also take it bare if you would rather cut your own lengths.

What it is, exactly

A standard off-the-shelf push button, which I buy in quantity, test and wire up. I do not manufacture them. What you are paying for is getting the right one: a momentary push button, with no built-in resistor, that works first time, prepared to your lengths and shipped in the same parcel as your player.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a resistor to wire this button?

No, none at all. It even matters: a button with a built-in resistor will not work on the AdKey connectors. The ones I sell are checked, you can wire them as they are.

Does the button stay pressed down?

No, it is a momentary button: it springs back as soon as you let go. That is exactly what you need to trigger a sound.

How do I choose the size?

The 22 mm metal one if you want discreet and sturdy, the 28 mm one if you want colour and want it spotted from afar, the 60 mm one if several people will be hitting it all day or if your visitors have imprecise gestures.

Can the big 60 mm button light up?

Yes, it is backlightable, including at 5 V although the light is then dimmer. Steady lighting works straight away. For it to light in time with the sound or in response to a press, you need an Expan'Son and a custom program: write to me and we will talk it through.

Can a button be customised?

The white 60 mm has a hinged translucent cap. Slide a printed insert inside, a pictogram or some text, and that is it. It is the simplest way to get labelled buttons without having anything made.

How many buttons can I connect?

Up to 14 on an Exposi'Son, and far more on an Ambi'Son fitted with Expan'Son boards. The article “Exposi'Son or Ambi'Son: choosing and setting up” does the maths for you.

I want a colour or a size that is not in the list.

Just ask me. I do not keep everything in stock all the time, but I order regularly and I can often add it to your parcel.
