Certifications
The devices in the shop are designed and assembled in France by BigSoundBank, in small batches. This page sets out, family by family, the European regulations that apply to them. It does not cover books, mugs, clothing and card games, which are described in our commitments.
For this kind of device, no body issues a CE certificate. The manufacturer assesses the product against the applicable legislation, records this in a technical file kept for ten years, then signs an EU declaration of conformity. The file is kept available to market surveillance authorities.
For all devices
These rules apply to all our electronic boards. The other tabs only cover what comes on top.
- Lead-free solder for everything soldered in the workshop.
Electromagnetic compatibility
Directive 2014/30/EU. A device must not disturb others (radio, hearing aids…) nor be disturbed by them. Our boards run on low voltage, from USB or batteries, with no high-power switching supply or fast clock, which keeps this risk very low.
Hazardous substances (RoHS)
Directive 2011/65/EU. It restricts ten substances in electronic equipment, including lead, mercury and cadmium.
General product safety
Regulation (EU) 2023/988. It applies to every product, electrical or not: risk assessment, product identification, safety information. The manufacturer's contact details are in the legal notice.
Recycling (WEEE)
The crossed-out bin symbol means an electronic device must not go in household waste. At the end of its life, take it to a recycling centre or a collection point so that its components can be recycled.
Batteries
No batteries are supplied with our devices.
Audio players
Exposi'Son · Ambi'Son · Boita'Sons
Regulations
- Electromagnetic compatibility, RoHS, general safety and WEEE recycling, like all our devices.
- Variants of the same player (number of buttons, custom program, USB or battery power) share the same electronics and the same file.
- Ambi'Son Bluetooth option: a device that includes a radio transmitter falls under the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU), which also covers compatibility and safety.
Safe use
- With headphones, start at low volume: long listening at high volume can damage hearing.
- Indoor use, away from moisture.
Télé'Son
Télé'Son S63 · Télé'Son U43 · Télé’Son (Kit) · Carte clavier S63
The Télé'Son is a vintage telephone turned into a sound player. CE marking covers the complete object as sold, not just the added electronic board.
Regulations
- Electromagnetic compatibility, RoHS, general safety and WEEE recycling.
- Ringer: the original mechanical bell is driven by a built-in generator. Above 50 V AC, the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU) also applies, with its insulation requirements.
- Original parts: the case, handset and cord are vintage; the electronic board and its wiring are new.
Safe use
- Sound plays through the earpiece, right against the ear: keep the volume moderate.
- Guest book version: if you record your visitors' voices, tell them with a sign. Storing and using the recordings falls under the GDPR.
Expansion boards
Exten'Son · Expan'Son · Anti-sleep · Transmi'Son
These boards plug into another device. Since they are sold to individuals who install them themselves, they are treated as devices in their own right.
Regulations
- Electromagnetic compatibility, RoHS, general safety and WEEE recycling.
- Transmi'Son: a fully passive board (transformers, potentiometer, jack sockets). It can neither emit nor suffer electromagnetic interference, so the EMC Directive does not apply. RoHS, general safety and WEEE do.
Accessories
USB-C Power Supply · Alimentation DC · DC extension cord · DC Splitter · DC Battery Box · Jack Splitter · 3W Speaker · 3W Resonator · Micro-SD card
These accessories are not made by BigSoundBank: they are selected to work with our devices.
- Mains power supplies: the only items in the range connected to 230 V, they fall under the Low Voltage and Electromagnetic Compatibility directives.
- Passive items (speakers, exciters, cables, splitters, battery box): they do not fall under CE marking. RoHS applies, and WEEE recycling when sold on their own.
Workshops and kits
Poly'Son · Petite Ourse
Poly'Son and Petite Ourse are designed for sound-making workshops with children, always supervised by an adult. They are not sold as toys. In the shop, build-it-yourself kits are intended for teenagers and adults and are not suitable for children under 14.
Safe use
- Small parts (googly eyes, LEDs, screws): choking hazard, keep away from children under 3.
- Batteries are fitted and removed by an adult.
- Sound played close to the ear should stay gentle.
Non-electronic items
Microphone rest · Ambi'Son wooden cover
No CE legislation covers these laser-cut wooden items: affixing CE marking to them would in fact be forbidden. Only general product safety applies (Regulation (EU) 2023/988).
- Small parts (spacers, pads): keep away from young children.
