Technicians and artists are often placed in different categories. Nowadays, while technicians might be unemployed without artists, artists themselves could do little without technique. In fact, everything is technical, and it is through mastering these techniques that the artist stands out.
Before the mastery of electricity, a singer had to master their vocal "technique," and it was up to the architect of the chapel or theater to ensure the quality of sound projection. We can all agree that an architect is an artist, right?
Since the advent of electricity and electronics, the architect remains important but is no longer alone, as new professions have emerged. The result of their respective work — both artists and technicians — can be felt in what they present to the public.
You will easily agree that a guitarist choosing between a vintage guitar and a brand-new model makes a subjective choice. This choice, along with their technical skill and talent, clearly places them as an artist. The same fully applies to a technician who must choose between various techniques and technologies, where their skills and talent determine the quality of their work... as an artist.
The technician has a part of the artist within them, and the artist has a part of the technician within them — a part that varies depending on the professional and the personality of the individual.
